INPERCEPTIBLES
The pandemic changed our lives but there are people who have been affected more than others. This project took life in 2020 while the pandemic of Covid-19 was just at its first stage here in Colombia.
Many people that were living on their daily jobs lost it all and struggled to get the money to simply buy food. As a photographer but first of all as a human being seeing what was going on in my own neighborhood, I decided to do what I can do better: shoot reality to make it more visible to the outside world.
With the help of Antonio Castañeda, social worker and artist, I had the chance to visit the house of many people living nearby (most of all elderly people) and document what was going on in their life in such a hard time with the purpose of getting more people to know a piece of reality and find a way to help them.
This project challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and let go of control: working without schedule, without knowing much of what I was going to witness taught me how to improvise more and to put aside a lot of what I used to do in Advertising Agencies.
This time was not about perfection, not about the pretty face of a model or a shiny glossy product, it was about reality and how difficult it may look at times.
